His career in comedy started as a stand up comedian after he followed his older brother Brian into Chicago. Brian was the first in the family to get into acting and they've even starred together in films, such as GroundHog Day. Bill was then taken under the wing of John Belushi who helped his polish his act.
Bill Murray started his screen performances on the show 'Saturday Night Live with Howard Cosell', which ended after only one season. He the got an opportunity to join the cast of 'Saturday Night Live' in its second season.
However, his first big box office hit was a film called 'Meatballs' in which he played the comedic character, and later went on to work with the same director in CaddyShack. This set Bill Murray into the minds of the public.
